The Father of Surfing, Duke Kahanamoku was also a great Olympic swimming champion. A fixture on the beach at Waikiki, his statue greets visitors today. Tourists visiting Honolulu in the 1920s could purchase a souvenir postcard of the Duke. The iconic image of Duke and his personalized long board has graced countless publications in the nearly 100 years since it was issued.
