Richard K. Fox’s National Police Gazette [“a periodical of note” according to Bill the Butcher in The Gangs of New York] was best known for issuing full page images of athletes and celebrities. In 1915, the weekly issued its full page single images on page 13 and multi-subject images on the rear cover page 16. Fighters also occasionally graced the cover of the periodical with a handsome large image and ornate graphics. Offered here is a large collection of full page single and multiple subject boxer pagess and a few covers as well. Many HOFers are included, as are images of fighters without known cards. Here is the breakdown [* means Hall of Famer]:
Full page (13): Al Reich; Mike Gibbons*; Jack Dillon*; Jack Britton*; Eddie McGoorty; Eddie Morgan; Young Shugrue; Young Jake Ahern; Jim Coffey the Dublin Giant; Gilbert Gallant; Jimmy Duffy; Frank Moran; Johnny Griffiths.
Covers (2): Packey McFarland*; Jack Dillon*.
Multi-Subject (32): too many names to list--over 120 fighters depicted, including Jess Willard*; Kid Lewis*; Johnny Dundee*; Packey McFarland*; Fred Welsh*; Kid Herman; Special Delivery Hirsh; Patsey Cline; Johnny Wilson; Knockout Brennan; Frankie Burns; George Chip; Frank Moran; Battling Chico; Charlie Weinert.
