Brooklyn Robins Hall of Famer Wilbert Robinson PSA 3

The York Caramel cards offered in this auction and the following auction #69 are from a Master set that is being broken up.  They come to us from the original owner’s family.  The original collector of the cards was a seven year-old boy living in Palo Alto, CA in the San Francisco Bay Area.  He purchased the cards from his local candy store in 1927.  The cards have stayed in the same, one-owner family ever since.  The consignor reports that the cards were graded by PSA at different intervals over the past decade, with two or three cards acquired as upgrades during that period as well.

Other than Ruth, it’s all here, including several variations and printing errors that comprised the #1 Master Set on the PSA registry.  For example, card #56 Roger Peckingpaugh, has an extremely rare variation with the card number printed upside down on the bottom of the front of the card.  Other variations include card #35, Clifton Heathcote, which was originally misspelled “Heathcot”, then later issued with the correct spelling of the last name.
